All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. ~Acts 2:42

On any Sunday you’ll find Pastor Rick welcoming new people and genuinely cheering you on in your journey with Jesus. Though he hails from Ohio, Rick calls Kingwood home—especially with his wife, Mrs. Carol, who grew up just down the road in Humble, Texas.
With 45+ years in ministry, Rick preaches clear, biblical truth with a joyful touch of humor and a steady focus on what matters most: Jesus as Savior and Lord. His heart is for every person to encounter Jesus, be transformed, and walk in their God-given purpose.
A Faith That Shapes How We Live, Love, and Lead
Our Core Beliefs
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. The Holy Spirit inspired the writers of the Old and New Testaments pointing to Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
We believe that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to redeem all of mankind. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life on this earth, performed many undeniable miracles, was crucified for our sins, buried and was raised from the dead for our justification. By the name of Jesus Christ, and His name only, can mankind be saved. Jesus Christ sits at the Right Hand of the Father and will return personally in power and glory to receive His Church unto Himself.
We believe in the local church as a place where believers gather together for edification, teaching from the Word of God, and ministry to and through each other according to their spiritual gift. The local church provides identity to its members as well as encouragement, interdependence, fellowship, correction, and discipline.
We believe that there is One God, eternally revealed to the world in the Father, the Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. By Him were all things created.
We believe that mankind is sinful by nature and will perish without the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as revealed in His Gospel. That God wishes that no one should perish, but that all would come to this saving knowledge through the preaching of the Gospel to a lost and hopeless world.
We believe in the multi-faceted work of the Holy Spirit to bring conviction of sin, revelation of the truth of the Gospel of Christ, drawing of the sinner to God, adoption of mankind into the Body of Christ through regeneration, and the distribution and administration of the Gifts and Fruit of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life. Jesus Christ is the “baptizer with the Holy Spirit” for the empowerment of the Church through the Baptism with the Holy Spirit
Statement of Faith
At Journey Church, what we believe shapes everything we do. Our faith is anchored in the truth of God’s Word and centered on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. The Holy Spirit inspired the writers of both the Old and New Testaments, and the entire narrative of Scripture points to Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
God
We believe in one eternal God, Creator of all things, who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is holy, just, merciful, and loving. He desires a personal relationship with every person He has created.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God—fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. He ascended to the right hand of the Father and will return personally in power and glory to gather His Church.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is available to all through Jesus Christ alone. By His grace and through faith, anyone can be made right with God. We reject the idea that salvation is pre-determined for a limited few; instead, we affirm that Christ died for all and that each person has the free will to respond to the Gospel. God is not willing that any should perish but desires all to come to repentance.
Humanity
We believe that all people are born with a sinful nature and are separated from God apart from Christ. Every person is in need of redemption, which comes only through a saving relationship with Jesus.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit to convict the world of sin, reveal the truth of Christ, regenerate the heart, and empower the believer. The Holy Spirit indwells every Christian, giving gifts for ministry and producing fruit for godly living. Jesus is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit, equipping the Church to fulfill its mission on the earth.
The Church
We believe the local church is the expression of Christ’s body on earth—a place for teaching, worship, fellowship, accountability, and equipping for mission. Every believer is called to participate in the life and ministry of the Church and is uniquely gifted to serve others.
The Return of Christ
We believe in the literal, personal return of Jesus Christ. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and to establish His eternal kingdom.
Sanctity of Life
We believe that every human life is sacred and created in the image of God—from conception to natural death. Because all people bear God’s image, we affirm the value and dignity of every life, including the unborn, the vulnerable, the marginalized, and the elderly.
God’s Design for Gender, Sexuality, and Marriage
We believe that God created humanity in His image as male and female—equal in value, distinct in role, and complementary in design. We affirm that marriage is a sacred covenant created by God to be between one man and one woman, and that it reflects the love of Christ for His Church. This design is not only good but essential for human flourishing and family life.
